Received MBE for services to glass artistry.

Born in Kirkcaldy in 1937, Colin Terris studied glass design and calligraphy at Edinburgh College of Art. He was taught copper wheel engraving there by Helen Monro Turner. After working briefly in Norway and then teaching, he joined Caithness Glass in 1968, where he established the engraving studios and trained engravers. He designed and introduced the first modern Caithness paperweights in 1969, but moved into hot glass production from 1978. A director of Caithness Glass, he was also appointed a director of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee in 1989.

The website was built from around 2003 to 2005 and was copied by a collector following his death, it has since disappeared from the Web. Frank Andrews felt it important that his work continues to appear on the web and has converted his multi-free site pages into a single site without advertising.
